Junior Movers is a fun dance class for 8-17 year olds.

Each week participants will practice and learn the next steps of their dance routine for that half-term! The music is high-energy pop songs that will have everyone moving and grooving to!

Over a term, the dancers work on dance techniques, and creative activities as well as work collaboratively to choreograph their own routines too.

These classes help to promote social skills, build confidence and create friendships!

Junior Movers is aimed at those with a lower level of need and who can follow instructions.

It is a structured class, but lots of opportunities to explore and be creative together!

Everyone is free to express themselves and dance without judgement.

My daughter (age 14) absolutely loves music and loves to dance but there is no way she could keep up with any of the 'mainstream' classes and activities that are available. She gets so excited as her weekly sessions with Spectrum approach and it has made her so much happier and more confident

What to expect in a typical Junior Movers Session?

Warm-up to Music

  • We always begin with a warm up to help us release energy and get the body warm/ready for dancing.

Dance Routine.png

Special Activity

  • This will look different each week. From working on dance techniques such as travelling across the room or working creatively in a group.

  • Here dancers often get to create their own choreography too!

Dance

  • Each week we practise our dance routine and build on it. Dancers often get to put their own moves into the dance too!

  • We will have a 5 minute break in the middle of this to have a drink, use the toilet and socialise.

Games.png

Game

  • Our game usually consists of moving around the space as a certain character or dancing to music in a certain way!

  • An opportunity to have some fun and burn off a bit more steam and move freely

  • Dancers often take it in turns to decide which game we’ll play each week.
