What Spectrum have been up to... Spectrum's Crowdfunder!

As you all know, this September we started a six-week-long crowdfunding campaign to help raise £10,000 to help Spectrum to continue running sessions after Christmas!

Sport England helped in our journey too by donating £10,000, which meant we had to raise £20,000 in total.

We ended up raising a whopping £24,997.86 after running amazing events for the campaign throughout October, including a market stall, a Quiz Night, an 80s/90s Disco and a Halloween Party. Many local businesses and organisations such as Leighton Buzzard Golf Club and Amore Pizza donated vouchers to us and community champions from Dunstable’s Asda and Luton’s Tesco provided us with food and drink for the events.

But that’s not all. Some of our volunteers and performers chipped in by creating their own fundraisers. They made a massive difference and are ultimately responsible for Spectrum still thriving!

So a massive thank you to...

  • Hannah Thomson for performing the piano at Laburnum Court, raising £121.70

  • The Dias family for raising £90 cycling around two lakes in Milton Keynes on the Big Green Bike on the 24th of October

  • Holly and Abby for spending the 23rd of October hiking to Jacob’s Ladder - the Edale Rocks nine-mile loop in the Peak District, raising £279

  • Morgan - one of our performers - for swimming 25 lengths every Saturday throughout October and raising £302

  • Max and Alex for doing a 30-mile sponsored bike ride and raising £805

  • Lisa organised a bake sale at work (Waterdene Foodservice Ltd) on the 20th of October

  • Leedon Lower School for raising £136 by naming the teddy

  • Lisa Saunders for raising £565 at Waterdene Cakes

  • Lee O’Callaghan for running 10 miles and raising £3,000

  • Rory and his mother for raising £700 on their walk

  • Josh Gale and Jenny for raising £886 and £412 respectively for their 10,000 ft skydive on the 16th of November

Thank you to everyone in the Spectrum family for donating and helping to make these events happen. We are now able to run sessions and events in the New Year. We could not have done it without you!
