Spectrum Songs will be returning as an 11-week-long music programme! The sessions will be led by Faye session and the first one takes place on Monday 17th April!

We are so excited to see Spectrum Songs make a comeback. Last year, due to a lack of funds we had to postpone some classes indefinitely, but due to smashing our £20,000 crowdfunder target in October last year, we finally had enough money to not only run Spectrum sessions for this term but also Spectrum Songs.

Spectrum Songs is a sensory music programme all about learning various songs together through singing, signing, movement and playing instruments! This session is aimed at participants who thrive in a more structured setting and can follow instructions. Our sessions will lead up to a super fun performance! If your child enjoys singing and music, then this session will be up their street!

There is still time to join us but we only have a couple of spaces left so if you'd like to sign up you should right now...

Day and time: Mondays from 6 -7 pm

Location: St Frideswide’s Water Eaton, Drayton Road, Water Eaton, Bletchley, Milton Keynes, MK2 3RR

On Sunday 29th January, Spectrum’s volunteers, participants and friends came together to celebrate Spectrum’s 6th anniversary. The Spectrum team were busy as bees planning the event, contacting local community champions for donations and arranging the bouncy castle and the DJ.

It was a great afternoon, everyone had fun dancing and singing to karaoke at the disco, organised by Ben Yates from Your Little Gig. Ben also provided games such as a limbo set, connect four and skittles, which the children enjoyed immensely and were popular go-to places during the party, as well as the huge bouncy castle.

When people wanted a cool-down in the quiet zone, they were treated to tombola prizes ranging from toys, games and home gadgets to smellies, sweets and chocolates. Children showed off their artistic skills at the crafts table - one participant did an amazing drawing of Transformers characters! Guests also treated themselves to our homemade cakes and drinks made by the volunteers and staff at Spectrum and visited the Sports Therapy Room’s stall for massages. Athena - one of our volunteers - even sold her beautiful homemade jewellery!

The day went by so quickly - and in that short period of time, we raised over £510, thanks to your support! We’re already excited about planning Spectrum’s 7th birthday party. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!

Jade, Poppy and Rosie went in and delivered a curriculum-embedded Performing arts day for the Cognition and learning pathway. The theme was Abracadabra and we saw 4 different classes and between us delivered 12 hours of dance, drama, music and sensory fun!

In Poppy's dance sessions they learnt how to use a magic wand (a rainbow ribbon dance), and how to move like magical words: fizz, whoos, spiral and bang before working as a group to create their own spells.

In Rosie's drama sessions the pupils met a mischievous wizard who liked to play tricks on their friends! The class turned into frogs, their brooms broke mid-flight and it rained sweets in the middle of a lesson!

With Jade, the groups journeyed through the story Room On the Broom via sensory explorations, music and song culminating in using pom poms, water beads and glow sticks to make our final magic spell!

Quote from Teacher: "Thank you so much for everything! Everyone absolutely loved it and definitely they would want to do it again in the future. The resources were great and the staff were very engaging. Thank you for making the day so pleasant!" - Nina Tiger Class Teacher / Cognition and Learning Operational Lead The Chiltern School
